OODA - Observe Orient Decide and Act (Methodologies)

Item attributes

description

This is an approach developed and used in the US Air Force, and is commonly referred to as "the OODA loop."

It's asserted that in a conflict, whoever can execute the OODA decision-loop faster and more accurately than their opponent will win (all else being sufficiently equal).

  • Observe
    • See and hear what's actually present (or absent), and what trajectories each thing is following.
  • Orient
    • Establish where everything is in relation to everything else, and where it's going to be.
  • Decide
    • Use that understanding of the situation to decide what action to take.
  • Act
    • Do the thing.

Repeat until the situation is resolved.
